THE FATHER
Peintcryptograph, 2010
This is a colorized artwork adapted from a black and white painting I did in the late 1970s. That image was done with ink blown through a straw. It was bust-length and set in a landscape. It was a poster for a benefit for the Sonoma County Indian Council, and even though I had simply created the figure straight from my imagination, the Council director was shocked; she swore it was a picture of her father, who was of the Wiyot tribe.
